BEIJING, March 3 (Xinhua) -- The 2023 China Taiping Chinese Football Association (CFA) Women's Super League will kick off on March 4, expanding to 12 teams and resuming the home-and-away system.

Last season the top nine teams stayed directly in the Women's Super League, with the last-place women's soccer team from Henan Zhongyuan winning the elevation playoff to stay in the league. In 2022, Hangzhou Bank Women's Soccer Team and Chongqing Yongchuan Chashan Bamboo Sea Women's Soccer Team joined the Women's Super League, bringing the number of Women's Super League teams to 12 in 2023.

The Hangzhou Bank Women's Football Team participated in the Women's Super League with a young squad, and this time it belongs to the return. Although Chongqing Yongchuan Chashan Bamboo Sea Women's Football Team is a new army in the Women's Super League, Yongchuan has always paid great attention to the women's soccer program, and has been hosting women's soccer international invitational tournaments for many years, and has become one of the women's soccer training bases in China.

For the 2023 season, the Women's Premier promotion and relegation policy has been changed so that the 12th placed team will be relegated outright, with the 11th placed Women's Premier playing a single play-off against the second placed team in Women's Division One. The winner will play in the Women's Super League for the 2024 season and the loser will play in the Women's First Division for the 2024 season. The play-offs are single-elimination matches, won on direct penalties over 90 minutes.

At the beginning of the year, Shanghai Rural Commercial Bank women's football introduced international top women's football coaches, former Japanese women's football coach Asako Takakura won the annual best women's football coach of the AFC for 6 times, aiming to help China's women's football professional development, faster with the international level.

From the point of view of the signing of the teams, Wuhan Chegu Jiangda women's soccer team, which has won three consecutive women's super championships, still maintains the strongest lineup in the new season, with the introduction of the multi-talented Wang Shanshan. Chongqing Yongchuan Chashan Bamboo Sea women's soccer team introduced "Chongqing girl" Li Ying. Shanghai Rural Commercial Bank Women's Soccer Team brought in Brazilian player Little Marta.

This year China's women's soccer team had an intense schedule of international matches, including the Women's World Cup, the Hangzhou Asian Games, and the second stage of the Olympic qualifiers. The women's super schedule makes full use of the non-national team's training time, once a week, twice a week, lasting from March to December, ensuring a combination of training for the teams and avoiding injuries caused by an overly intensive schedule.
