In a month's time, the men's soccer international match days will begin. The Chinese men's national soccer team has yet to officially announce a new head coach, but the candidate has been identified. The CFA has decided to have Jankovic replace Li Xiaopeng, and only needs to wait for approval from a higher level of leadership to make the announcement.
The national soccer team made its last appearance at the end of March last year, and has now "disappeared" for nearly a year. At the same time, due to the Football Association does not have enough money to hire Queiroz, Ola Loyo, Paul Bento and other familiar with Asian soccer, such as excellent foreign teachers, the national soccer team's coaching selection work has stalled.
Recently, the Football Association held a coach selection meeting in Foshan and finally reached a resolution to let Jankovic, who coached the Asian Games, coach the national team and then let other coaches lead the team to the Asian Games. In this regard, media source Li Xuan believes that the results of the coach selection should be recognized in principle, but the resolution should ultimately be reported to a higher level unit for approval.
As a matter of fact, the Football Association does not have the ability to invite good foreign coaches, and ordinary salaries can attract some Asian coaches, such as Park Hang-wook, a South Korean coach who is a meritorious coach of Vietnamese men's soccer.
Park Hang-wook said he will not continue to coach in South Korea and Vietnam after resigning as Vietnam coach, according to Football Daily. He will choose to retire in the next two to three years. Meanwhile, he was asked if he would consider coaching the Chinese men's soccer team. The South Korean coach could try to respond.
Earlier, Vietnamese media revealed that Park Hang-wook wanted to take over the Chinese men's soccer team and contacted the Chinese Football Association (CFA), needing to wait for a reply. Now, the Chinese Football Association does not like the excellent coach of the Vietnamese men's soccer team and opted for an internal promotion to let Jankovic, who coached the U24 Asian Games, lead the team.
Compared to Jankovic, Park Hang-wook is more capable of coaching. After all, the achievements of coaching the Vietnamese men's football team for several years are there for all to see, including leading the team to win the second place in the U23 Asian Cup, the gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games, the Southeast Asian Championship, leading the Vietnamese national team to the final stage of the Asian zone of the World Preliminary League for the first time (Round of 12), as well as leading the team to a 3-1 home win in last year's Round of 12, which was the first time that the Vietnamese men's football team beat the Chinese men's football team in its history.
Perhaps because of face, the CFA didn't want to invite the coach who led the team that humiliated the Chinese men's soccer team to coach, and decided to let Jankovic take over instead of Li Xiaopeng to lead the team in the new World Qualifiers and Asian Cup.
Unsurprisingly, the CFA will officially announce the new head coach of the Chinese men's soccer team at the beginning of March and is now only waiting for approval.
