
BEIJING, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- Huaxia Happiness recently announced that the company's director and co-president, Meng Jing, has been retained by the Supervisory Committee of Chongyang County, Xianning City, Hubei Province, on suspicion of violating the law and committing a crime. A Huaxia Happiness executive commented on the reason for Meng Jing's investigation, saying it was related to the Li Tie case.
Meng Jing, 56, is the same age as Chairman Wang Wen, and the two are also hometowns in Bazhou, Hebei.In 2015, Wang Wen, eager to launch the influence of the China Happiness brand, acquired Hebei Zhongji Football Club, which was still in China's first division.In July 2015, Li Tie became the executive deputy general manager, sports director, and head of China's coaching staff of Hebei Huaxia Happiness Football Club, before resigning from his head coach in August 2016 position. Under Li Tie's coaching, Huaxia Happiness achieved eight consecutive wins and stormed into the Chinese Super League. However, some media people revealed that the club was reported to have broken the law by allegedly buying opponents to play fake games.
As for the reason why Meng Zhen was investigated, a China Happiness executive revealed that it was related to Li Tie's case. According to previous media reports, Li Jun, the former general manager of China Happiness Club, has been taken away for investigation, but the reason for involvement in the case has not been disclosed.
