Casillas has been a member of the Real Madrid youth team since the age of 9, i.e. 1990. Casillas made his first team debut on November 27, 1997, and made his debut in 1999 against Athletic Bilbao. He went on to become the youngest goalkeeper to play in a Champions League final when he started in Real Madrid's 3-0 win over Valencia on May 24, 2000 - four days after celebrating his 19th birthday.
He was the starting goalkeeper for a while after that. But in 2002 because of the decline in form, performance inaccuracy, once turned into a substitute goalkeeper.
