Villa's love affair with soccer as a child

Villa's childhood soccer journey

David Villa was born in Tuila, a small town in Llangrio, an autonomous community in Asturias, northern Spain. David Villa's career as a soccer player was anything but smooth. When he was four years old, he broke his right leg in an accident and his father started to work on his left leg so that he could play soccer with both legs. The accident was a blessing in disguise. At the age of fourteen, David Villa was discouraged by the fact that he had been sitting alone on the bench, suffering from a lack of opportunities to play and not earning a dime for his family, and was planning to give up soccer. However, after receiving constant encouragement from his parents, he finally saw the light of his soccer career.

David Villa kept working hard and his skills kept improving. At the age of seventeen, David Villa started to get the attention of the big clubs in Asturias, but the Asturias' top team, Oviedo, missed out on him because of his small stature. David Villa finally chose to join Athletic Gijon, where he studied the club's Hall of Famer Quinny, and his career has been on a roll ever since.
