Walker joined Sheffield United at the age of seven and became a key member of the team's reserve team in 2008, and in November 2008, at the age of eighteen, he was loaned out to League One side Northampton to gain more experience in the starting line-up, and was given a starting berth a few days after joining the team to play against Oldham, which he failed to win and eventually lost to the opposition, and then the loan period, which was originally for a month, was extended until January 2009, when he was given a place in the team's squad. Villa manager Houllier then admitted that he had borrowed Walker until the end of the season, and he made his debut for the team in January 2011, when they faced a visit from their parent club, Sheffield United. However, Kyle Walker lived up to his reputation by scoring in the 9th minute of the match, helping his side to a 3-1 victory and progressing to the fourth round of the F.A. Cup.
At the end of the 2011 season, Walker stated that he would prefer to stay at Aston Villa if he was not included in the Spurs starting line-up, and Spurs manager Harry Redknapp said he was keen to retain him. Walker's contract was extended until 2016, and he started the 2011-12 season in the starting lineup for the team's first league game against Manchester United.
On July 14, 2017, Walker moved from Tottenham Hotspur to Manchester City on a five-year deal for a whopping £50 million transfer fee to wear the No. 2 jersey.
