Terry's soccer career
Terry's playing days
He spent his early years in the West Ham United youth system, initially playing as a midfielder and later as a defender. He then moved to Chelsea in 1995, where he became a youth and reserve player. Due to a shortage of center backs in the team, he was moved to center back.
Terry's debut for Chelsea came on the night of October 28, 1998, against Aston Villa in the League Cup. And his first start was against Oldham in the third round of the F.A. Cup.In 2000, he was loaned out to Nottingham Forest to gain experience. During that time, the then head of Huddersfield, Bruce was willing to offer £750,000 for Terry. Chelsea accepted the offer, but the deal fell through as Terry wanted to stay in the Premier League team.
Terry established himself as Chelsea's debutant from the 2000-01 season onwards, starting 23 matches and being named Chelsea's Player of the Year for that year.
At the end of the 2016 season, Terry, who was not included in the team's contract renewal and was ready to leave, signed a one-year contract with the Blues because his new coach, Dryland, was determined to renew his contract. Terry had been publicly expressing his unwillingness to leave Chelsea, and on May 21, 2017, Chelsea beat Sunderland 5-1 on aggregate in their final Premier League match to regain the Premier League title.
Joined Championship club Aston Villa on July 3, 2017
On October 7, 2018, he announced his retirement.
