Ashley Cole is a retired English footballer who played as a left back. In his prime, Cole was recognized as one of the strongest left backs in the world at the time. He is also a strong contender for the best left back in England's history, and has a reputation as a "mobile goalpost".
Cole became a professional on February 25, 2000, after playing as a striker and midfielder for Arsenal's youth team. He made his first team debut on November 30, 1999 at the age of 18 against Middlesbrough, his only appearance of the season. He then spent the 1999-00 season on loan at Crystal Palace, where he scored one goal in 14 games, helping them to stay in the Premier League.
On July 18, 2005, he extended his contract with Arsenal for one year.
On August 31, 2006 Cole finally made his move to Chelsea official.
In the 2014/15 season, Cole did not renew his contract due to his advanced age and joined Roma in Serie A. He joined Roma in Serie A, but was not a full-time player until he announced his departure in 2015. But after joining the team, he did not have a solid start until August 14, 2015, when he announced that he was leaving the team.
On January 27, 2016, Cole signed with the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer.
