Who is Casillas?
Casillas is currently the Deputy Executive Director of the Real Madrid Foundation, a retired Spanish soccer player and goalkeeper. He has made a total of 160 appearances for Spain, is the team's all-time record holder for appearances, and is the first player to reach 100 wins in a national team game. He has also been the captain of the Spanish team, and has had a long career playing for the Spanish capital club Real Madrid. In 2008, he led his country to the UEFA European Championship after 44 years, and two years later, he led his country to the World Cup for the first time, winning the Golden Glove award. In 2012, Casillas once again led the Spanish national team as captain to defend the European Championships like no other, winning three consecutive tournaments, the world's major newspapers described Casillas as a "legend". He was also the second most capped player in the Spanish national team, after Sergio Ramos.
Casillas, who had already won a number of tournaments as a youngster, was nominated twice for the Mr. European Footballer of the Year award, finishing fourth in 2008; he went on to be the highest-ranked goalkeeper in 2009. Casillas was named in the 2008 UEFA Team of the Year, the fourth consecutive year of success. Casillas is one of the few players to have won all the major club and national team tournaments.
With a height of 1.83 meters, he is relatively short for a goalkeeper, but his agility and bouncing power make up for his lack of height.
