Saudi League President Emenalo recently revealed in an interview that a Saudi team had previously expressed strong interest in bringing in Liverpool's Egyptian star Salah, but unfortunately, the Liverpool side was not willing to sell the star of the show.
Emenalo said in the interview, "Regarding whether Salah will join the Saudi League in the near future or not, it actually depends on Salah himself. Indeed, the rumors about teams from our league having chased Salah are true, and such interest and intention did exist at the time. However, just like any other transfer, if an agreement cannot be reached with the player's club, then the deal cannot be finalized."
He further explained, "Liverpool have made it clear that they don't want to sell Salah, which is understandable. After all, Salah is an important player for Liverpool and they see great value in him. As for how much we're willing to spend to bring him in, that's not the point, because even if we make a lucrative offer, if Liverpool aren't willing to let him go, then it's all moot."
Emenalo also said that he doesn't think Salah is ready to come and play in the Saudi League: "Salah feels that he has unfinished business in soccer, and he may want to continue to challenge himself for more honors in Europe's top leagues. Therefore, even if we are interested in him, we need to respect his choice and wishes."
