Liverpool veteran Pennant recently gave his advice on possible striker changes to the team in an interview. He specifically mentioned Bayern winger Sane, saying that if Salah chooses to leave Liverpool next summer, Sane would be the ideal candidate to replace Salah. Pennant was impressed with Sane's performance against Arsenal in the Champions League and believes he can show such a high level every week in the Bundesliga.

Pennant said that Sane knows enough about the Premier League during his time with Manchester City, which will help him adapt quickly to Liverpool's tactical system. Although Pennant doesn't think that Sane will be able to replicate Salah's achievements exactly, he emphasized that Sane is definitely a world-class player in his position, as he has achieved very good results in his years at Liverpool. He mentioned that Salah consistently contributes more than 20 goals and double-digit assists every season, while in comparison, Saka's current best performance is 15 goals, which is not yet up to Salah's standard.

Although Pennant has high hopes for Saka and believes that he has the potential to become a world-class player in the future, for the time being, he does not believe that Saka has the ability to replace Salah in Liverpool's starting lineup. Therefore, in the event of Salah's possible departure, Pennant prefers to choose Sane as his successor to ensure that the team's striker's strength will not be affected too much.
