According to Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona has reactivated its scouting department with the aim of bringing in reinforcements to improve the current squad, meet tactical needs and deal with possible injury emergencies.
Although the number of scouts has decreased this season, Barcelona's technical staff are still actively observing potential candidates in major leagues and international matches. The club's sporting director, Deco, has also made several trips to watch matches in person in order to assess player performances for himself.
Head Coach Fricke maintains regular communication with Deco, but as of now, there has been no specific meeting between the two sides regarding the winter transfer market, nor have they discussed specific plans for the next transfer window period. However, Barcelona's top brass have drawn up a list of concerns, thoroughly investigating all positions for reinforcements, and want to prepare a complete list of players for each position in order to select potential reinforcements at any given time.
Considering the club's financial situation, Barcelona will prioritize players who are likely to become free agents when it comes to reinforcements in order to avoid high investments. As a result, the target is mainly on experienced veterans, as the quota of young players has already been filled in Barcelona's squad.
