Feb. 6 - Beijing Youth Daily today published an article on the selection of coaches for the national soccer team, stating that neither Chengdu Chengdu South Korean coach Xu Zhengyuan nor Zhejiang Spanish coach Jordi are suitable candidates for the Football Association.
The report states that the Chinese men's soccer team and the Chinese men's Asian Games team will travel to New Zealand for two warm-up matches at the end of March. As there is no suitable candidate to take over the national soccer team in the short term, the candidate in charge of the March training and warm-up team will be between current coach Li Xiaopeng and current China Men's Asian Games coach Yang Kovic, who may also join hands to lead the team.
According to domestic media reports, Chinese Super League (CSL) Chengdu Chengdu South Korean coach Xu Zhengyuan and Zhejiang Spanish coach Jordi are also in the running for the national soccer team. However, Beijing Youth Daily revealed that this is not the case and the two aforementioned Chinese Super League coaches are not ideal candidates for the Chinese Football Association either.
Finally, the article said that both Li Xiaopeng and Jankovic, or both of them will join hands to participate in the training and warm-up matches in March, they may play the role of "transitional coaches".
