Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker recently offered advice on the career of Manchester United striker Anthony, suggesting that he should end his career at United and return to Ajax, where he achieved success and fame.
Parker addressed Anthony's situation in the transfer market in his comments, stating, "Unless it's Manchester United giving him away for nothing, I don't think Newcastle or Crystal Palace would be interested in Anthony. They may see some value in Anthony, but I fear he will end up going the way of Van Der Beek."
Parker further noted that Anthony has not lived up to expectations at United and believes that Anthony would be better off back at Ajax: "His home is Ajax, that's where he's had his success and made his name. I don't think Newcastle or Crystal Palace can afford him on a financial level and he hasn't proved his worth at United."
Parker dissects Anthony's skill set, which he sees as deficient in terms of physical play and presence on the field, "Anthony doesn't have physical play, and that has nothing to do with muscle or size, but more to do with presence on the field and his own internal strength. He plays like a player who is small and shows no confidence."
In addition, Parker criticized Anthony's left-foot technique, "He's one of the worst left-footers I've ever seen. Left-footers tend to be gifted with either great explosiveness with their feet and Anthony's left foot lacks power and he has no technique. I don't think he played any role at United."
