According to a new report from Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg, Leverkusen are confronting Wiltz's future destination with a preference for him to join a club abroad rather than domestic rivals Bayern Munich. This stance is particularly strong in the light of Wiltz's possible departure next summer.
For their part, Leverkusen are trying to convince Wiltz to sign a new contract to extend his stay with the team. Wiltz's current contract is set to expire in June 2027, but Leverkusen are clearly keen to keep hold of the young central midfielder for years to come. However, if Wiltz insists on seeking a new challenge next summer, Leverkusen would prefer to sell him to a club abroad as a way to avoid strengthening domestic rivals Bayern.
Manchester City have shown the most interest amongst Wiltz's potential underlings. The German international's midfield organization and attacking threat are so appreciated by the City side that they are willing to make a lucrative offer for Wiltz. In addition, Premier League teams such as Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have also shown strong interest in Wiltz, as they are all looking to strengthen their squads for the upcoming season.
It is worth noting that La Liga giants Real Madrid are also in the race for Wiltz. However, Leverkusen are currently of the opinion that Wiltz's move to Real Madrid next summer is not realistic. This could be due to factors such as Real Madrid's transfer strategy, transfer fee offer or Wiltz's personal adaptation to La Liga.
