Juventus beat formidable rivals Lazio 1-0 in Serie A. After the match, defender Kalulu, who played the whole match on his debut, was interviewed by Sky Sports and DAZN to share his thoughts and personal feelings about the match.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Kalulu spoke about the difficulties Juventus faced after being outnumbered: "Lazio were very organized and even when they were one man short, they didn't let up. This made it difficult for us to find a breakthrough, and although we had a hard time scoring ourselves, we were sure we wouldn't lose the game." On his offensive performance, Kalulu said, "We prepared a variety of plays in order to create a two-on-two situation. On offense, all of us were forwards; on defense, all of us were defenders."
Speaking about head coach Motta, Kalulu said with respect, "In practice and games, Coach Motta asks us to give it our all, but he also lets us enjoy the soccer and have the freedom to try to attack. This is one of my favorite points, everyone can show their own style of soccer." To the regret of being a Milan fan, Kalulu humorously responded, "Maybe I'm talking too much."
In an interview with DAZN, Kalulu reflected on his performance at Juventus: "I worked very hard to reach a level that matched my teammates and this jersey. Now that effort is reflected on the pitch." On the difficulties he encountered in the first half, he analyzed, "We're a team that has a lot of possession, but our opponents don't come forward in a big way to press. When they retreat, it is difficult for us to find space for penetration and other tactics. Our opponents have studied us very well in this regard, so it was indeed more difficult today, but in Serie A, every game is not easy."
When asked if he was one of the best performers among the new signings, Kalulu modestly said, "Thank you for the compliment. In training, we also push forward and the coach really appreciates how we move forward with the ball when we get it. Although I'm not quite used to being on the left side of the pitch, I feel like I can play freely without worries or too many constraints." On the performance that led to a red card for the opposition, he smiled and said, "It was certainly nice to get the opposition player sent off, but it might have been better to get a penalty."
