During his playing days, Jiang Tao played for China's Jianlibao, Bayi, Vanguard Roundabout, Wuhan Yellowhurst, and Liaoning.From 2009 to 2019, he worked for Liaoning Shenyang Hongyun, and in 2021 he became an assistant coach for Xiamen Ludao, where he assisted Coach Zang Haili in guiding the Ludao to a fifth-place finish in the China Second League.
