The South Korean men's national soccer team was invited to dinner at the Cheong Wa Dae Welcome Hotel, the former presidential palace, on Dec. 8, Yonhap News Agency reported.

In his welcoming speech, Yin Seok-yue said, "I am inspired by the indomitable perseverance of the players. The vast majority of the nation stayed up all night and wholeheartedly cheered for the national soccer team in the cold weather, which was touching. He emphasized that the country over strived to challenge the same goal and the spirit of never giving up united the national soccer team and the people to work together.

At the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, South Korea advanced to the round of 16 with one win, one draw and one loss. But in the 1/8 finals, South Korea lost 1-4 to five-time World Cup winning powerhouse Brazil. Despite the journey stopping in the round of 16, South Korea made it to the round of 16 again after 12 years, much appreciated by Korean fans.
