Zhang Yuning of the Chinese Super League and Feng Boyuan of the Chinese First Division are two of the top homegrown scorers in the Chinese Super League: as of the 25th round of the Chinese Super League, Zhang Yuning is ranked third in the Chinese Super League's Top Scorers list with 15 goals, while as of the 29th round of the Chinese First Division, Feng Boyuan is ranked third in the Chinese First Division's Top Scorers list with 15 goals, just behind Onuebu's 24 goals and Correa's 17 goals.
As the king of scorer of Kunshan team, Feng Bo Yuan's role is unquestionable. This former man U23 national team member has finally shown his powerful strength. What's more, he was once a member of Liaoning and Jiangsu Suning and has lost both of his parent teams in his career, especially Jiangsu native Feng Boyuan, who reluctantly watched Jiangsu soccer lose its top flight in early 2021.
But today, Feng Boyuan finally succeeded in surpassing with his own efforts with his teammates, which makes Jiangsu soccer again have the top team. Speaking of super, Feng Boyuan said with emotion that the meaning is very different.
◆Soccer: How do you feel about Kunshan's five-round advance to the Super League?
Feng Bo Yuan: Of course, I'm very happy. My one year of hard work has paid off and coming back to the Chinese Super League means something very different to me. As a native of Jiangsu, Suning came to another Jiangsu team after it was disbanded, and November 12 was the last game in the Super League for Jiangsu Suning. I was still sad when Kunshan managed to overtake and Jiangsu soccer had a new Super League team.
◆ To an outsider, it's smooth sailing for Kunshan in the Super League, but how would you feel as a player?
Our achievements do give the outside world a sense of relief because we have been winning games, but as far as we are concerned, the nerves of the club, the coaching staff and the staff, including our players, the whole team have been on edge and everyone has given a lot. So going above and beyond is not that easy and it's not that easy to fight another battle.
◆ What kind of support did the club give you, from the beginning of the season preparation to the whole league?
The club has given the team great support, especially in this environment. For example, our training and logistical support in Haikou and Guangzhou is in line with that of the Chinese Super League teams, including accommodation and food standards. In addition, the club has done a great job in terms of financial security, which makes us worry-free.
◆Football: You have scored 15 goals so far, which puts you at the top of the team's scorers list, a number that surpasses Kovic and Berto, how do you work together?
Fung Pak Yuen: The three of us support each other. I am a center forward. Berto is more to the side and has more breaks on the flanks. Kovic has more movement around me, which is considered a shadow forward position. We worked well together and had good personal communication. In the end, I scored more goals, Kovic scored more goals and Berto scored a lot of goals, but his recent injury affected the numbers.
How does "Jinan boy" feel after joining Delgado?
When he first arrived he also went through a process of acclimatization and then started scoring goals. After joining, he scored five goals. When I talk to him, he also says he likes playing with me. We still work well together.
◆ As the captain of the team, do you have a heavier responsibility?
Our team has three captains, Wang Jiajie, Zhang Yudong and myself. We also try to set an example as much as possible on and off the court. However, the most important thing as far as the Kunshan team is concerned is that the cohesion of the whole team is very good. Everyone has a common goal and is focused on playing soccer, and the atmosphere in which it is played is great.
◆Football:Looking at your career, how do you look back on your career from Liaoning to Suning to Kunshan, including studying abroad and being selected for the U23 national team?
Feng Boyuan: As a matter of fact, when playing in China, strikers lived in very difficult conditions. At first, at Liaozhu, even though we were a relegated team at the time, the strikers were heavily imported foreigners. Later, when we came to Suning, there were a lot of big brands and not many opportunities to play. The most important thing was to stick with it. At that time, I came to the Kunshan team hoping to play more games and accumulate more. After two seasons, I feel very happy. Many players who used to play as strikers were forced to change their position, but I liked it, so I kept going. I'm also happy to have stuck around and gone above and beyond with the team.
◆ How do you feel individuals have changed over the years?
It's changed a lot. I felt grumpy when I was younger, but after a lot of experience, especially when I got married in 2020, I have more responsibility and better emotional control.
◆ The 15 goals so far set a career high for a season in your career, and the numbers will probably increase in the coming rounds. How do you think your technical ability has changed?
I remember the topic of headers coming up in our chat many years ago. I was impressed. Later, I also thought that since I have a height advantage, why not make full use of my advantage? Speaking of which, although I am over 1.9 meters tall, I played in the midfield when I was a kid, so I am particularly fond of the ball at my feet, and I even refuse to head the ball. Over the years, I've watched Zhang Yuning play a lot. He has a good header and good feet. I thought, why can't I head the ball well!
I've also been working on my headers for the past few years. Eleven of my 15 goals this year were headers. I think my extra training is still paying off. Especially in this year's league, many of our opponents are shrinking their defenses. At this time of the year, a header is a great offensive weapon.
◆ What are the expectations for personal development in the next season of the Chinese Super League?
Still hoping for a solid game. Consistent play is so important as a striker, and if it's just one or two seasons of play, it's only a flash in the pan.
◆Football: What do you think about the club's goal scoring in the Premier League next season? Especially this year, the performance of the promotion of the Premier League is very outstanding.
Feng Bo Yuan: We have to play the second game first. Although we have gone beyond, the game is not over yet. As for next year's Super League, as our players, we must fully cooperate with the club's goals. Of course, it must be based on stability.
◆ What do you think about Kunshan soccer and Kunshan as a city?
Kunshan is a very nice city. I used to know it, but for the past two years I've been playing games elsewhere. I didn't really know and feel Kunshan. I think I should have more opportunities next year. Of course, due to the tournament system, it is difficult for the team to have direct contact with the fans. I also hope I can feel the passion of Kunshan fans next year.
◆ Nantong Zhiyun is also about to overtake, so Jiangsu soccer will have a top league team again, and two top teams, what do you think of Jiangsu soccer?
Jiangsu soccer, deserves to have teams with top leagues. The more the merrier, so I hope Nantong can rush up soon. In fact, Jiangsu's economy is very good. I don't think there are many top teams. Of course, I also hope that teams all over the country can develop better and better.
