Oct. 21 (Bloomberg) -- In a personal column, Dalian
commander-in-chief
Xie Hui talked about his years in the foreign countries and said that soccer needs ascetic days.
The following is an excerpt from Xie Hui's column:
On knowing about soccer
When I participated in the National Olympic Team training, I went to Germany with the team, and I was very interested in that kind of soccer environment. I always think that Europe is the real cradle of soccer, no matter in any sense, we should go out to see. Yang Chen, Fan Zhiyi has now established a firm foothold in Europe, which reinforces my idea of "going out".
We didn't have as much exposure to European soccer then as we do now, and Schlapner (former China
the national team
The head coach) gave me a lot of assistance, and his assistance made it easier for me to go to Germany to play soccer. When I was at home, I thought playing soccer was like going to work, that there were on and off hours, but Schlapner informed me, "There are no off hours in soccer, even when your practice is over, you have to think about how to rest well, how to eat and drink well."
I hadn't heard that from any domestic coaches before, so when I got to Germany at age 25 I realized, "Oh, so that's how a soccer game needs to be prepared!" That had a big impact on me.
I recently read a very good book - Heart Stream - which describes how those who are successful learn more from their suffering. What the book says is actually a kind of ascetic state, and the same applies to soccer. In the soccer international practice is suffering, many things can not eat is suffering, self-discipline is suffering, recovery from injury is suffering, inhibit the mood is suffering ...... you only need to withstand these sufferings, in order to achieve success, not the average person can do.
Something I also didn't fully appreciate until today is that soccer requires an ascetic-like day do-over to get that little bit of dopamine.
The feeling of accomplishment cannot be described in words and was only slowly realized when I scored my first and second goals in Germany.
About Fan Civility
German fans and
Our fans.
The emotions towards soccer are completely different. We always say
Our fans.
It's similar to Europe, except that the level of our kickers here is too far from Europe, but that's not the case.
The distance between us and international soccer is all-encompassing, in all aspects, and that's what I learned when I arrived in Germany.
For example, German fans watch the game with the same devotion as going to church, while our fans watch the game like watching a movie. In Germany, the phenomenon of grandparents and grandchildren supporting a team is very common, and "watching football" is a very important part of their lives.
It's hard for me to find a suitable descriptor to summarize that atmosphere, and it's hard for us to be as obsessed with one sport as the Germans are. If we had to find a similarity, table tennis would be possible, but the volume of table tennis is not comparable to that of soccer. Soccer is the number one international sport and accounts for nearly half of the world's sports industry.
I would play table tennis with my teammates in my spare moments when I played in Germany, but it was just for recreation. Even when I used my left hand they couldn't beat me - not that I played so well, but they played so poorly. I chipped the ball and they went off the net as soon as they caught it. I switch to all left-handed and they go off the net again.
China's professional table tennis players will play every detail, such as how to serve, how to receive the ball, how to play the first three boards ...... swing, picking, dumping, pulling ...... light to receive the ball there are a dozen kinds of these are table tennis players in other countries can not be imagined! The same applies to soccer. The same reasoning applies to soccer.
Many of us in this country think we know a lot about soccer, but we're just sitting around being stupid.
About the years of staying in the ocean
I joined Aachen on loan halfway through the 2000-01 season, scoring four goals in half a season, and finished the season officially as the
transfer to another club (professional sports)
The way to join. Its time for the
transfer to another club (professional sports)
The fee is 1 million marks (Germany's currency designation of the year), almost equivalent to 5 million yuan. After this amount was rumored German media was very shocked, there was a local newspaper wrote this talk: "Why do we have to spend so much money to buy a Chinese player? Aachen is not a table tennis salon."
I'm in
transfer to another club (professional sports)
The pressure was palpable as I didn't score in the first eight rounds of the season after joining. My goals came after the start of the ninth round of the league and I scored a total of 14 goals that season. My goal rate in the domestic league was about one in two games, and in the Bundesliga it would have been one in three. The top scorer in the Bundesliga B totaled 18 goals that season, and I was then to return home to participate in the
International Cup
preliminary competition
, didn't play in the last six rounds of the competition. You know, I scored 14 goals before I came back to China, and I was tied with several other players for first place in the top scorer's list. We have four home games in the remaining six rounds, and if we play all of them, we still have a good chance to compete for the top scorer.
After playing that season, I received
Bundesliga
Kaiserslautern Salon contract. Their request at the time was simple, as long as I didn't follow the
the national team
You'll be able to sign if you play in the Big Ten. Who dares to say at that time that they won't return home to play in the Big Ten? Serving my country was a must. Now I think if I could play in the
Bundesliga
, to go to a higher level league to work out and improve, and in the future to better serve the
the national team
Effectiveness.
We can understand saying this now, but not in those days. In addition to Kaiserslautern, I also received a contract from Köln, but I didn't talk about it. There is nothing to look back on now, there is no turning back, let bygones be bygones.
On the topic of staying in the ocean
Our understanding of soccer is limited, sometimes like many frogs looking down a well at the sky and thinking it's huge. When one jumps down to the well and takes a fresh look at the sky and realizes it's nothing like what he was looking at down there, and then jumps down to inform us how big the sky is, he gets laughed at.
I used to tell people about virtue.
national soccer team
The advanced place of the ball, immediately some people will say that I worship foreigners, but also gave me a foreign shout "German Xie", think about it is helpless. I've been out there and I know why we can't do it. Please note that I said "we", I am also in it. We have to be brave enough to recognize our own limitations, and it is the most pathetic thing to be afraid to recognize the distance.
I'm always asked who of the current domestic players can go to the
Bundesliga
Playing soccer, I don't think there's a single one as of right now. If we were to go to the Bundesliga, we would be able to list a few, such as
Wu Lei (1979-), Chinese footballer
, he's certainly capable of it. Of course, there's no point in listing players over thirty now, they're too old. Then you have to pick from younger players, not too many that can settle.
The Europa League really isn't that good.
Wu Lei (1979-), Chinese footballer
It is at the ceiling level in the country and wants to be in the
La Liga
It's not easy to score more goals in the Western B. The others are predictable. We have to recognize the distance and then find a way to get better. We have a long way to go.
