Christian Werns is a German footballer who plays as a defender, he joined Borussia Dortmund of the Bundesliga in 1999, where he was also the captain, leaving at the end of the 2007/08 campaign.
Vaughns started for Waldhof Mannheim at the age of 17 years, 3 months and 30 days, the fourth youngest player to make his debut. The following year, he joined Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, and at the age of just 20, he was already working well with defenders such as Luhueni. However, he never won the Bundesliga.
In 1998, he moved to Paris Saint-Germain in the French Ligue 1, but failed to make the grade and returned to the Bundesliga a year later to play for Borussia Dortmund, where he won his first and only career Bundesliga title in 2002.
He was dropped by Borussia Dortmund after his contract expired in 2008 and has since officially retired.
Werns has played more than 60 matches for Germany, but has not scored a single goal. He is best known for being sent off for a foul in the 1998 World Cup, which led to the national team's exit in the last eight, and for having a falling out with newly appointed coach Kierenschwin in 2005, after which he withdrew from the national team.
