Mandžukić retired Croatian footballer who played as a striker and is currently an assistant coach of the Croatia national soccer team. is a former member of the Croatia national soccer team. In addition to being a prolific goal scorer, he is known for his aggressive defensive contributions and playmaking power.
Mandzukic started his career at his hometown club, Marsonia, before joining two big clubs in the Cretan capital, firstly he joined Dinamo Zagreb. He then joined Dinamo Zagreb in 2007, where he became the top scorer of the Croatian First Division in the 2008-09 season. His prolific goal-scoring ability led him to join Wolfsburg in the summer of 2010. After a stellar campaign in which he scored three goals and was one of the top scorers in the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship, he was signed by Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. In his first season at the club, Mandzukic won three trophies for Bayern: the Bundesliga title, the German Cup and the UEFA Champions League, in which he scored his first goal in the UEFA Champions League final.
On the international front, Mandzukic was selected for the national team in November 2007 by then national team coach Slaven Bilic. He moreover represented Croatia in two major tournaments, the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship and the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and he has started more than 50 matches for the national team. He was elected Croatian Footballer of the Year for two consecutive years in 2012 and 2013.On 14 August 2018, Mandzukic announced his retirement from the national team via social media.
