On October 7, the head coach of Wuhan Sanzhen Football Club's reserve team, Spaniard Salva, announced the news via social media, announcing that he was about to say goodbye to his one-year stint at the club.
Salva has been coaching at the Evergrande Soccer School since 2018, before moving to Wuhan Three Town at the end of October last year to become head coach of the reserve team. In March this year, he revealed on social media that he had not returned to Spain for two years, and was overwhelmed with longing for his family.
Today, Salva released his farewell letter via Twitter, which reads as follows:
It seems like yesterday that I was the head coach of the reserve team at Wuhan Sanzhen Football Salon for a whole year. Although we have not participated in any official tournaments during this year, we have achieved excellent results in numerous friendly matches, which have not only supported our competitive training, but also made significant progress in player development.
In fact, we have not lost to any real outside team in 2022, with our only loss coming 1-3 in a pre-season match against the first team, and the other defeat coming against our satellite team, Hainan Stars, when most of the team's star players had been through my training. We also had a 0-0 draw with Central League 1 side Guangxi Pingguo Hazhou, and a win against Central League 2 side Hubei Young Stars. Nonetheless, my team had a lot of turnover, with a maximum of 63 players training at the same time, while at times there were only 5 available, as a number of players had to move between the reserve, U19 and U17 teams. In addition, a number of players have not been able to stay in the squad due to contractual issues, which has presented a number of challenges to my work. However, on a positive note, the year has allowed me to gain valuable experience, improve my day-to-day management skills and make me more socially and interpersonally comfortable.
Nonetheless, I would like to express my gratitude to the club for giving me this opportunity to learn a lot of new things and become more well-rounded.
My year at Wuhan Sanzhen Football Salon was the shortest tenure at a club in my 22-year coaching career. But for me, the experience was full of positives and allowed me to see soccer in a whole new light.
As I said before, although I am about to say goodbye, I would like to express my gratitude once again for the opportunity given by the club and wish Wuhan Three Towns Football Salon prosperity and a better future!
