On September 12, Shanghai Five Star Sports reported that the recent hotly debated issue of the selection of the national team's head coach provides insight into the possibility of Ola Royo taking over.
Reports have revealed that Jankovic is not in a position to become the head coach of the Chinese men's soccer team, and there is little hope that Li Xiaopeng will stay in the job. The national team management plans to complete the selection of the new national football coaching team within this year. The new head coach could be a foreign coach who has a deep understanding of Asian and Chinese soccer, or has coaching experience in the Chinese Super League.
It is reported that Ola Royu, who led Jiangsu Suning to win the 2020 Chinese Super League title, was frequently mentioned when the Football Association discussed the candidates for the national soccer team's head coach.
During his time as head coach of Jiangsu, Olaroyo won the title for the team in the top tier of Chinese soccer and remained in title contention for the rest of the season. After the dissolution of Jiangsu, he terminated his contract with the team and became the head coach of Sharjah Football Club in the United Arab Emirates in November last year.
Sharjah is currently at the top of the table after scoring five goals and conceding none in the first two rounds of the season. After the team brought in Barcelona star Pjanic and Villarreal striker Paco, seaport foreigner Oscar was once the favorite of Sharjah.
Five Star Sports pointed out that Olaroyu, who signed a two-season contract with Sharjah, is less likely to move to the national football team in the short term with the club fully supporting his team-building ideas.
