Recently, the Korean media has been focusing on the latest move of Oscar, a foreigner from the harbor. According to reports, Oscar has a strong desire to "flee" China next January, despite his failed transfer attempts in the summer transfer window.
It was reported in early July that Oscar pushed for a return to play in Brazil, with family reasons behind his decision, but also not to ignore the financial woes that are becoming more and more apparent in the Chinese Super League. He made the decision to leave with determination, even if it meant accepting a pay cut.
However, it was not to be, as Oscar signed a personal contract with Flamengo upon his return to Brazil and publicly displayed a photo in Flamengo's uniform. However, the Shanghai seaport side rejected the transfer request, resulting in the two sides failing to reach a final agreement.
Dissatisfaction then erupted and Oscar chose to stay in Brazil for training while Shanghai Seaport demanded his return. Despite Harbour's promise to continue paying his salary even if he did not play, Oscar remained adamant in his refusal and continued to seek a transfer opportunity.
Oscar even rejected Harbour's request to return to the club in December, with his mind set on joining Flamengo. He revealed he was willing to give up a whopping €24 million a year, with his contract with Harbour set to expire in 2024.
Oscar joined Shanghai Harbor in 2017, when the Chinese Super League was seen as a retirement place for retired players. Oscar's choice came as a surprise. During his time with Shanghai Seaport, he scored 51 goals and contributed 94 assists in 173 games.
