Exploring Shaqiri's soccer footprints
Showing a flair for soccer from an early age, Shaqiri joined SV Augst at the age of 4, where he spent his first years of soccer. He spent his first years at SV Augst, where he was then taken under the wing of FC Basel, where he spent eight years in the youth academy.
On July 12, 2009, a star-studded day, Shaqiri made his debut in uniform, as a substitute for Basel, in the Swiss Super League opener against St. Gallen.
Time flies, and on February 9, 2012, Basel officially announced Shaqiri's imminent transfer to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich for the 2012-13 season, for a transfer fee of €11.6 million, with a four-year contract giving him an annual salary of nearly €2 million.
Shaqiri briefly joined Inter Milan in 2015, making 15 appearances and leaving his mark.In 2018, he once again embarked on a new journey, moving to Premier League side Liverpool for a whopping £13.5 million and wearing the number 23 jersey for the Premier League campaign.
From 2021-2022, he joined Ligue 1's Lyon, and between 2022-2024, Shaqiri moved to the USL to play for the Chicago Fire. And in 2024, he chose to return, returning to his parent team, Basel, to continue writing his soccer legend.
