Gakobo's Player's Journey
Born on May 7, 1999, Gakpo has become a 25-year old veteran on the soccer field in the blink of an eye. He began his soccer journey in Eindhoven at a young age under the tutelage of his father. Starting out with EVV Eindhoven AV, he joined the PSV Eindhoven youth camp in 2007 and officially stepped into the professional league in 2016.
Gakpo made his first-team debut in the 2018/2019 season, followed by a first taste of the Champions League in a Champions League match.In December 2022, Liverpool officially announced that they were welcoming the Dutch starlet for a fee of £37 million.
Gacopo: The young and promising Dutch star
In the 2021 UEFA European U-21 Championship, Gacpo shone, scoring two goals and assisting in a solo match against Hungary U-21. That same summer, he was also selected for the Dutch national team for Euro 2020. In a World Cup qualifier, Gacpo scored his first goal for the national team in the 76th minute in a home win over Montenegro, becoming PSV Eindhoven's fifth goal scorer at the Philips Stadium.
Gakpo: Shining on the World Cup stage
In November 2022, Gakpo was named to the 26-man Netherlands squad for the World Cup. He scored his first World Cup goal against Senegal, helping the Netherlands to their first group stage win. Against Ecuador, he scored his second World Cup goal in the sixth minute.
