Footprints of a soccer career
Starting from the cradle of ADO The Hague, Ake's soccer journey arrived at the gates of the Feyenoord Youth Army camp at the age of 12. Four years later, at the age of 16, he crossed over into Chelsea's youth ranks.
Ake made his Premier League debut in 2012 at the age of 17 years and 10 months, coming on as a substitute for Juan Mata against Norwich City to see Chelsea to a 1-0 victory. The first start for Chelsea came against Middlesbrough in the F.A. Cup.
Ake's name stayed in the Championship after a short but productive five-game loan spell at Reading in March 2015. Mourinho's praise made Ake's dream of a Premier League title medal seem ever more real.
In August 2014, Ake, who had signed a five-year deal, was loaned to Watford to start a new chapter in his Premier League career. A year later, he was loaned out again, this time to Bournemouth.
Chelsea ended Ake's loan spell in January 2017, while Ake returned to Bournemouth in June of the same year for a club transfer record fee of £20 million.
Ake moved to Manchester City in August 2020 for £41 million on a five-year deal with shirt number six.
