Patrick Kluivert, who showed footballing talent from an early age, joined the Ajax youth team at the age of 7. In 1994, at the age of 17, he made his debut in the Dutch Super Cup, scoring a whopping 18 times in the season and contributing to Ajax's double in the Dutch Eredivisie. In the Champions League final of the same year, he scored a crucial goal to help his team win the title. Since then, Kluivert has moved to a number of top clubs across Europe, including AC Milan, Barcelona, Newcastle United and Valencia. Notably, he won the La Liga title in his first season at Barcelona.

In 1998, Kluivert led the Dutch team to the World Cup in France, scoring as many goals as possible and helping the team to break into the quarterfinals. Two years later in the European Football Championship, he even surprised the eight finalists with a hat-trick and was honored as the top scorer with five goals, becoming the second Dutch player to reach this achievement in 12 years after Van Basten.

Initially, Kluivert's talent was highly regarded and he was touted as a future star. However, his form took a nosedive from the 03-04 season, when he was replaced by Robben in the starting line-up for Euro 2004 and then dropped by Barcelona. Despite a number of transfers, he was never able to regain his best form, and in 2006, he returned to the Dutch Eredivisie, joining PSV Eindhoven, before retiring in 2007 at the age of 32, ending a brilliant and troubled soccer career.
