Reinke's career trajectory revealed
Reinkele burst onto the scene in 1976 with his hometown club Leicester City and was soon promoted to the starting lineup. In the 1985-86 season, he made a name for himself with Everton, scoring 40 goals in 42 games. He then moved to Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain, where he helped them win the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1989. He then returned to England, joining Tottenham Hotspur on a scholarship to Margaret Hall College, Oxford, where he scored 67 goals in 105 games over three seasons and won the FA Cup. He then traveled to the J-League in Japan, where he joined Nagoya Hachiba Whales, the end of his career.
Reinkl made his England debut for Scotland in 1984 and won the Golden Boot at the 1986 World Cup, before helping England reach the semi-finals of the 1990 World Cup. In total, he made 80 appearances for the national team, scoring 48 goals, just one less than Bobby Charlton's record of 49, but in 26 fewer matches.
In 1986, Reinke was crowned England's Footballer of the Year and PFA Footballer of the Year. Despite a long career, he has never received a yellow or red card for a foul, a record that is considered a miracle in the history of modern soccer, and in 1991 he won the FIFA Fair Play Award. Critics have pointed out that Reinke's ability to maintain this record, in addition to his gentlemanly image, was a major factor in being a striker with low defensive involvement.
