Jurgen Klinsmann's life in soccer: the ups and downs from planning to coaching
After retiring from coaching, Klinsmann did not rush into coaching, but took his family to sunny California to plan marketing strategies for LA Galaxy FC and live a laid-back American life.
However, the wheel of fortune turned on July 26, 2004, when Klinsmann took over the helm of the German national team, a decision that sparked widespread controversy at the time, as Klinsmann did not have any proven track record in coaching the team prior to that.
Incredibly, in the 2006 World Cup, Klinsmann led the German team but all the way through, despite the semifinal defeat to Italy, but still harvested the third place, and he himself decided to step down with the Italian famous coach Lippi, ending this short national team coaching journey.
Before the afterglow of the World Cup had dissipated, Klinsmann became the target of several top clubs and European and American national teams, including Chelsea, England and the US national team. However, in a twist of fate, Bayern Munich announced on December 11, 2007 that Klinsmann would be Heathfield's successor. However, during his coaching career at Bayern, Klinsmann suffered repeated setbacks, with the team underperforming and even being eliminated from the Europa League by Barcelona, and was eventually relieved of his duties by the Bayern board of directors on April 26, 2009, with only five rounds of the league remaining.
In 2010, Klinsmann moved on to become a consultant for Toronto FC in Canada, and on July 29, 2011, accepted an offer from the U.S. Soccer Federation to succeed Bradley as head coach of the U.S. national team. However, in November 2016, he was sacked by the U.S. Soccer Federation due to poor results, with Ivana taking over as coach.
A new chapter in Klinsmann's life was ushered in on February 27, 2023, when he was named head coach of the South Korean men's national soccer team, replacing Paulo Bento. However, on February 16, 2024, the Korean Football Association (KFA) announced that it was parting ways with Klinsmann.
