s South Korean star Cho Won-hee has generously shared his lucrative earnings during his playing days in China in an in-depth talk show. He revealed that he personally earned a whopping 180 million won (about Rs. 930,000) during Evergrande's 5-1 away win over Jeonbuk in the 2012 season's AFC Champions League.
In the program, Zhao Yuanxi talked about his career plan, he said that his goal is to enter the national team, then join the task force, and ultimately to the European game. Facing the question of the program team, "Isn't it good in China? Zhao Yuanxi confessed, "In China, the financial rewards are really attractive."
Cho Won Hee recalled, "At that time, the club paid 30 million won (about Rs. 154,000) in bonuses for every goal I scored. If we ended up winning, the base bonus was also 30 million won."
Cho Won-hee also revealed that Evergrande's bonus system is even more generous at higher levels of competition. "In the AFC Champions League or other major tournaments, an additional 30 million won is awarded for each goal scored. I remember one game where we scored five goals (referring to Evergrande's 5-1 AFC Champions League win away to Jeonbuk in the 2012 season)."
"Together with the base win bonus, I ended up with 180 million won (about 930,000 yuan), which the club credited to my account the next day." Cho Won Hee lamented, "The Chinese soccer market is just so attractive."

He became Evergrande's first Korean foreigner since the team's inception. He won the hearts of fans with his tough style of play, and in the AFC Champions League he defiantly blocked an opponent's shot, resulting in broken ribs.In November 2012, Cho Won-hee left Evergrande to join Wuhan Zall.In 2014, Cho returned to South Korea, playing for a number of teams before announcing in 2019 that he was retiring from the game. A year later, Cho Won Hee chose to make a comeback with Suwon FC of the K2 League, helping the team to be promoted to the K1 League, before he retired again at the beginning of 2021.
