On August 10, Beijing time, Louisville Athletic, the powerhouse of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), officially welcomed Chinese women's soccer international Wang Frost to the club. The 27-year-old midfielder is set to complete her third overseas tour at the end of 2023 after a one-and-a-half-year contract, which has taken her to South Korea and France.
Back on August 2, the Louisville Athletics managed to acquire Wang Frost's playing eligibility through a trade with the Lyon Monarchs. In exchange, the Louisville Athletics provided the Lyon Monarchs with $30,000 in compensation money, as well as a 2023 NWSL fourth round draft pick.
Wang Frost, born on January 23, 1995 in Wuhan, is a flexible player who can play both as a midfielder and a striker. Currently playing for Wuhan Chegu Jiangda Women's Football Club, Wang Frost started her first overseas trip in July 2013, joining Chungbuk Toto Women's Football Club in South Korea and helping the team win the second place in the league within six months.
In 2014, Wang Frost returned to China and joined the Wuhan Chedujiang University women's soccer team.In January 2016, she was briefly loaned to Dalian Quanjian women's soccer team.In February 2018, Wang Frost returned to Wuhan Chedujiang University. In September of the same year, she moved to France's Paris Saint-Germain women's soccer team and finished second in Ligue 1 with the team in the 2018-19 season.In July 2019, Wang Frost terminated her contract with Paris Saint-Germain and returned to Wuhan women's soccer.
At the international level, Wang Frost made her debut for the national junior team in 2006.In 2013, she made her debut for the Chinese women's national team.In 2015, she represented China's women's soccer team at the Women's World Cup.In 2016, Wang Frost participated in the Rio Olympics with the team. In terms of personal honors, Wang Frost won the title of Miss Football Asia in 2018 and won the China Women's Golden Ball Award four times.
