On August 8, the incident of allegedly playing fake football in the Guangdong U15 boys' soccer final quickly climbed up the hot search and attracted widespread attention. The Chinese Football Association (CFA) reacted quickly and initiated the investigation process. Renowned journalist Chen Yong commented on the incident on his social media and revealed the possible punishments.
Chen Yong pointed out that in the face of such an incident, there are actually not many measures that the FA can take. Although they cannot directly cancel the result or the champion or runner-up, according to the regulations, the FA can determine that there is a negative match behavior and impose penalties such as banning the relevant practitioners (e.g. players registered in the Chinese Super League). On this basis, the organizing committee can further make a decision to cancel the results or deprive the champion of the penalty.
If the evidence is conclusive, the alleged offense will face more serious consequences. Even if there is no conclusive evidence, the Football Association may still impose penalties in accordance with the relevant provisions.
Disciplinary Code of the Chinese Football Association Section 4: Violation of the Spirit of Fair Play Article 73: Serious violation of the spirit of fair play In the event that the course and result of a match involves a serious violation of sportsmanship, such as negative play, tacit ball, or the use of a match for gambling, which causes a bad social impact, the following penalties will be imposed, as determined by the Disciplinary Committee:
(i) Disqualification of the result of the match. (p) (ii) Other penalties. The penalties in the preceding paragraph may be used independently or in combination. If gambling behavior is involved, the CFA will submit it to the relevant authorities for handling.
