During the water break, video referee Ai Koon reminded referee Zhen Wei that Ma Xingyu was suspected of committing a serious foul. After watching the VAR, Zhen Wei showed Ma Xing Yu a red card and sent him off.

The first referee pointed out that Ma Xing Yu's action was clearly a direct red card, but due to the referee's distant position, he was unable to make a decision in the first instance.The referee corrected the decision after VAR intervened. The action was an excessive use of force, endangering the safety of the opponent with an obvious purpose.
The second referee considered that Ma Xing Yu jumped up and stomped out with his left leg instead of retracting it in time, resulting in a red card. Although there was no violent act, it was a serious foul.
The third referee emphasized that Ma Xing Yu's stomping action was forceful and purposeful, so it was reasonable to give him a red card. As for the characterization of serious foul or violent behavior, we need to look at the post-match referee supervision report.
All three referees agreed that the intervention of VAR was accurate and important. According to FIFA regulations, VAR can intervene in a timely manner in the case of a referee's obvious mistake or a serious loss of sight out of sight.
