The June 24 edition of Sports Weekly revealed that the Korean Professional Football League made a decisive decision to postpone the four rounds of K1 League matches scheduled during the East Asian Cup.

It has been reported that the Korean Professional Football League (KPFL) has drastically adjusted its K1 League schedule in order to fully prepare for the upcoming 2022 East Asian Cup. The 22nd round of the league, which was originally scheduled for July 17, has now been moved up to July 16, while the Korean national team will also depart for Japan on the 17th. As for the 23rd round of the league, which was originally scheduled for July 22-24, it will be rescheduled to August 27 and 28, respectively, and if Jeonbuk Hyundai and Daegu FC advance to the semifinals of the AFC Champions League, the corresponding 23rd round of the league will be postponed to August 29, respectively.

The 24th round of the tournament, originally scheduled for July 26-27, has been rescheduled to August 20-21, with Suwon FC's clash with Jeonbuk Hyundai and Gangwon FC's clash with Daegu FC being brought forward to August 10th. The 25th round of the league, which was originally scheduled for July 29-31, has been rescheduled to July 30 and 31 for some of the matches, taking into account the national team's return schedule.

It is worth mentioning that the Korean Football Association (KFA), the Professional Football League (PFL), and the national team have been in urgent consultation after the Egyptian team's friendly. Paulo Bento, the head coach of the Korean national team, insisted on having the starting lineup play, and eventually the Professional Football League made a compromise and only adjusted the schedule for the K1 League.
