Specific criteria for the awarding of incentives. Each player in the 23-man squad coached by Paulo Bento will be entitled to a basic bonus of 20 million won.
Each victory is worth 30 million won, while a draw is awarded 10 million won.
South Korea's best result in an international tournament dates back to the Round of 16 at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. If they break through to the round of 16 on their trip to Qatar, each player will be rewarded with an additional 100 million won (about 540,000 yuan), and if they advance further to the quarterfinals, they will each receive another 200 million won.
The total prize pool for the Round of 16 tournament will be 4.8 billion won (about 25.79 million yuan), and the total will rise to 7.8 billion won if they succeed in reaching the last eight. The KFA said this is the biggest reward in the history of South Korean soccer, and the coaching staff will also receive additional bonuses based on their contracts.
