The replacement mechanism for the Central League A and League B is still in the planning stage due to complicated issues.
With Chongqing Liangjiang Athletic Club officially announcing its withdrawal from the Chinese Super League and suspending the team's operations, the Chinese Football Association (CFA) and the Football Federation Preparatory Group (FFPG), as the governing body of the Chinese Super League, immediately held an emergency meeting to discuss strategies to deal with the situation.
According to the Beijing Youth Daily reported on the 25th, in order to maintain the new season of the Chinese Super League 18 teams to participate in the pattern, the "replacement of a team" of the pre-program has been basically finalized. Originally relegated from the Super League Dalian People's Club has become the first choice for replacement, its strong will to be recognized by the organizers, the relevant process has been initiated. However, the replacement program for the Central League A and B has not yet been clarified due to the complexity of the factors involved.
Fear of increasing competitive imbalance with odd-numbered teams competing
On May 24, Chongqing Liangjiang Athletic Club officially announced its withdrawal from the Chinese Super League, reducing the number of teams to 17 for the new season.
The tournament organizers had considered not to make a substitution as the Two Rivers Athletic Club announced its withdrawal with only two weeks left before the start of the league, and other clubs had already determined their regions and groups based on the draw results. However, the move could have triggered unfair competition, considering the problem of empty rounds that may result from the participation of an odd number of teams, the uncertainty of the title race, the qualification for the Asian Champions League and the relegation competition.
The Dalian People's Club strongly wants a replacement
In the face of this situation, the organizers, after urgent internal discussions, proposed the option of substituting a team. The implementation of this program will bring a series of chain reaction, so internal opinions are different. In the end, however, the organizers basically agreed to the replacement proposal and have contacted the Dalian People's Club to confirm their strong willingness to replace the team.
The proposal for the replacement of the Central A and Central B, still under discussion
The organizers agreed to Dalian's replacement into the Chinese Super League, but the replacement scheme for the Chinese League A and Chinese League B is still under discussion. Due to the different policies on foreign aid in the three leagues, the Chinese B League does not allow foreign aid to play, and the transfer window is closed, so it is difficult for the replacement team to replenish its staff in a short period of time. In addition, the staffing of the replacement teams may affect the fairness of the league competition, so the willingness of the middle and lower level clubs to replace them will also affect the final decision.
It is worth mentioning that despite the withdrawal of Two Rivers Athletic from the Chinese Super League, most clubs are actively preparing for the game. Preparations for the opening event of the Chinese Super League are already underway, and the new season of the Chinese Super League is highly anticipated.
