Today, the preparatory team of China's professional soccer league elaborated on the key aspects of the overall preparations for the 2022 Chinese Super League season, tournament arrangements and systems, and epidemic prevention and control, and had a lively exchange with the media. The core members of the preparatory team include Shi Qiang, head of the preparatory team, Liu Jun, deputy head and chairman of the CSL, Guo Bingyan, head of competition, and Liu Jie, head of operations.
Super League officials released the first phase of the new season's fixtures today. Guo Bingyan gave a detailed explanation of the sub-regional and fixture system. He emphasized that the integrity of the fixture system will be ensured this year, aiming to complete a total of 306 matches in 34 rounds, with a specific fixture system of 10+8+8+8, progressing gradually in four stages.
The first stage will be a conference system, with a subsequent effort to return to a home-and-away system, but it will be quite difficult to do so. In the second and third phases, the first two teams seeded in the first two divisions will not rotate divisions, while the other four teams will do so. The final stage will be a reorganization of schedules and divisions.
The four stages of the tournament are tentatively scheduled for June 3 to July 12, July 21 to August 21, August 30 to September 30, and October 9 to November 9, respectively. All the tournaments will be successfully concluded before the opening of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
