On the morning of May 24th, Chongqing Liangjiang Athletic announced that it had withdrawn from the Chinese Professional Football League (CPFL) and disbanded the team. Nevertheless, the embarrassing situation of 17 teams competing for the new season of the Chinese Super League did not occur. According to a reporter from the New Beijing News, Dalian's return to the Chinese Super League is on the cards. In order to minimize the impact of the Chongqing team's dissolution, the grouping of the three regions of the Super League will remain unchanged, and the first stage of the Dalian People's tournament will be held in Haikou.
At the time Chongqing Liangjiang Athletic stopped training due to salary arrears, the CFA and CFL preparatory team had favored not to pass on teams. If the 2022 Chinese Super League were to consist of only 17 teams, then the league's admission process would have been finalized and teams would have prepared for the tournament based on the number of foreign aiders required for the level of competition. However, considering factors such as fair competition, protecting the integrity of the league and the brand image, the CFA and CFF preparatory team started to discuss the plan of substituting teams into the Super League after Chongqing Liangjiang Athletic announced its withdrawal from the tournament, and eventually reached a consensus.
According to the relevant replacement rules, last season from the Chinese Super League to the Central League, Dalian people became the first choice for replacement. 25 May, Dalian people club submitted the application for replacement. Even if the success of the replacement, Dalian people will also face a series of follow-up work. Under the leadership of new boss Xie Hui, the team has been preparing for the Chinese League with a full Chinese class. Due to the transfer ban imposed by FIFA on Dalian Ren, the club has little room for adjustment in terms of foreign aid - unless it recalls last season's foreign aiders after dealing with salary issues. It is reported that Danielson, Larsson and Boateng have yet to terminate their contracts with the club.
This year's Chinese Super League is being played in three divisions: Dalian, Meizhou and Haikou. Although the Dalian People's Club once expressed the wish to stay in the Dalian district, but the grouping plan of the three districts has long been determined. Now, many Chinese Super League teams have also traveled to their respective regions to isolate and prepare for the game, making it difficult to make adjustments. Therefore, Dalian People will go to the Haikou Region, where Chongqing Liangjiang Athletic previously competed, to participate in the first stage of the Chinese Super League tournament, with Shandong Taishan, Changchun Yatai, Guangzhou City, Henan Songshan Longmen and Zhejiang team in the same group.
Replacement team participation is not only the problem of the Chinese Super League. After the Dalian substitute back to the Premier League has been finalized, the new season of the Central League is faced with the embarrassing situation of "18 teams missing 1".
It is understood that it has not yet been determined whether any teams in the Central League A and B will be substituted.
