On May 15, a reporter from the Beijing Youth Daily revealed that Haikou City will host a group of matches in the new Chinese Super League season, and the approval process has been initiated. The CFA and CFL preparatory group plan to submit the complete opening program of the new season of the Chinese Super League to the relevant departments on May 16th. If the program is approved, the new season of the Chinese Super League will most likely be opened on June 3 and is expected to end in mid-November. At present, if the 2022 season of the Chinese Super League to take the group tournament system, Haikou, Dalian, Meizhou three regions will be responsible for the entire four stages of the tournament.
Haikou race confirmed to take on a tournament
Against this backdrop, Haikou became the only tournament organizer to fight for. on May 10, the CFA and the CFL preparatory team sent a working group to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the training and competition venues and hotels in the Haikou area. Haikou City's attitude towards hosting the Chinese Super League tournament is also quite positive. After completing the relevant procedures for agreeing to host the tournament, Haikou Match Zone finally confirmed to host a group of matches of the new Chinese Super League season.
After completing the selection of the three major tournaments last weekend, the CFA plans to submit a complete set of proposals for the start of the new Chinese Super League season to the relevant authorities on May 16th. Once the proposal is approved, the tournament organizers will send out official opening notices to clubs and relevant parties involved in the league.
Super League expected to open June 3
According to the organizers' program, the new season of the Premier League is expected to open on June 3rd. Due to the impact of the epidemic and other uncertainties, the exact time of the end of the season is not yet clear, but it strives to be completed in mid-November, before the opening of the World Cup in Qatar. This season's Premier League program is divided into four phases. As the earliest the tournament can start is in early June, even if it takes up the June cycle of international match days, this season's Super League matches will face a tight schedule of 34 rounds of matches to be completed in more than five months. For this reason, the organizers plan to compact the first two phases of the tournament, i.e. shortening the break between the first phase (10 rounds) and the second phase (8 rounds), and reserving 4 to 6 days of inter-conference transit time for each team. The first two phases of the tournament are expected to conclude in mid-August.
According to the program, the opening event of the new season of the Chinese Super League will be held in the Woyuanhe Stadium in Haikou district, which is likely to be held on the evening of June 3rd. The opening game will be played between defending champion Taishan and another team in the same group. Previously, it was said that Taishan's opponent is Chongqing Liangjiang Athletic Team, but the organizers have not yet finalized the decision.
No spectator admission for the opening game
As a result of the epidemic, the first two phases of the new Chinese Super League season will adopt a centralized system of group matches, and the matches will not be open to spectators. During the game, all kinds of staff, service personnel and media reporters related to the game will be in the "epidemic-proof blue zone" and "epidemic-proof green zone", which is basically the same as the form of the previous two seasons of the Chinese Super League.
As to whether spectators will be allowed in the third and fourth stages, or even resume the home-and-away system, no conclusion has been reached yet. However, if the full-season tournament adopts the group tournament system, the three districts of Haikou, Dalian and Meizhou will be responsible for the whole tournament. Of course, if individual regions can't continue to run the tournament due to force majeure factors such as epidemics or venues, the organizers will launch alternative plans.
