The news shows that the Chengdu Municipal Sports Bureau and the Chengdu Municipal Football Association are enthusiastic about organizing the tournament, but the actual implementation still needs to be approved by the local health epidemic prevention, public security and other departments, and needs to go through certain procedures and time. Therefore, from the urgency of preparing for the tournament, Haikou is more likely to become the third tournament area.
After Rizhao made it clear that it would not be able to host the first phase of the new Chinese Super League season, the CFA and CFL preparatory team had to quickly contact other candidate cities. The first cities they considered were Haikou and Chengdu.
In fact, with the official confirmation of the postponement of the 31st World University Games, Chengdu City, the venue of the event, has the potential to host the soccer event in terms of time and venue conditions. It is understood that the Chengdu Municipal Sports Bureau and Chengdu Football Association have also shown great interest in hosting the Super League tournament during their exchanges with the preparatory team of the Chinese Football Association (CFA) and the Chinese Football League (CFL). After all, Chengdu had successfully hosted last season's F.A.C. Cup final and Chengdu Rongcheng was promoted to the Chinese Super League in the new season. What's more, Chengdu's grounds and weather conditions are ideal for hosting soccer events in the summer.
However, candidate cities need to get the approval of the relevant departments of the local government to host the tournament. As of noon on May 11, the tournament organizers have not yet been informed of the attitude of the local health epidemic prevention and public security departments, and there is no clear answer as to whether or not the local government will allow the hosting of the Chinese Super League tournament.
