Zhang Linpeng, who emerged from the Chongming Genbao soccer base, became a starting defender for the national team, making 92 appearances for the national soccer team and contributing five goals. Since 2006, he has played with Shanghai Dongya Football Club (now Shanghai Harbour Football Club) in the Second Division and First Division. 2011, Zhang left Shanghai to join Guangzhou Football Club. In 11 seasons with Guangzhou, he made 328 appearances, contributing 18 goals as a defender and winning the AFC Champions League, Chinese Super League, CFA Cup and CFA Super Cup with the team.In 2022, Zhang returned to Shanghai Harbour.
