Ask:
In that AFC Champions League storm last year, you were called upon to lead the team through the thick and thin, all the way to the final, what was the secret behind that?
A: Although I was only a vice-captain at POSCO, I took on the responsibility of leading the team in the absence of the captain in the AFC Champions League. There were many seniors in the team who were older than me, and they highly recognized my talent and leadership. The team's success was partly due to our close cooperation at the time, and partly due to the excellent leadership of the head coach. I am still very proud of this team bonding.
Ask:
Xie Feng, the head coach of Beijing Guoan, has publicly stated that you are the first foreign aid he brought in this year, what qualities do you think made you catch his eye?
A: I think it might be because I can play multiple positions, from wingback to midfielder. Furthermore, Coach Xie Feng has a good eye for people, maybe because I'm quite attractive, that might be one of the reasons, haha.
Ask:
When you first joined the team, what were the elements that you exchanged the most with Head Coach Xie Feng?
A: He hoped that I would gradually regain my physical fitness and gradually integrate into the team without rushing. He also reminded me to pay attention to my diet and to try to eat less greasy food, even though there is a wide variety of food in China.
Ask:
What kind of communication did you have with Minya Kim before joining Beijing Guoan?
A: Minjae Kim shared with me his three wonderful years in Beijing, emphasizing that Beijing is the capital city and the team has traditionally been a favorite to win the championship and also participate in the AFC Champions League. He was very satisfied with his three years at Guoan and highly recommended me to join the team, saying that he believed I would leave good memories there.
Ask:
On your first day on the team, the interpreter was Kim Tae-Yeon, what did you think of his level of translation?
A: I very much recognize Kim Tae-Yeon's level of translation, but in comparison, my current translator is better. I prefer my current interpreter and he has been helping me integrate into the Chinese team. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Kim Tae-Yeon once again.
Ask:
What was the first question you asked when you found out you were going to play for a Chinese team?
A: The first thing I inquired about was the differences between Chinese and Korean cultures, because I know that every country has a different history and civilization, and there are bound to be some taboos to be aware of. So I started by asking my cousin what is the most important thing she can't do in China.
Ask:
How did you pass the boredom during your isolation?
A: First of all, I insist on exercising every day to maintain my physical condition. Secondly, I watched videos of Guoan's matches to understand the team's techniques and tactics. In addition, I have been learning Chinese and although I did not make much progress during the isolation period, I am determined to continue my efforts.
Ask:
What is your favorite Korean food and Chinese food?
A: I prefer kimchi soup for Korean food. After coming to China, I have tasted many cuisines, among which Dongpo pork and Peking duck impressed me deeply, their flavors are really wonderful!
Ask:
What's the most interesting thing you've encountered since coming to China?
A: The funniest thing was that when I went to the bank with my interpreter to apply for a bank card, the bank clerk actually mistook me for a Korean entertainment star and asked for a photo. We all laughed when we explained it later. I would like to say that this is really an anecdote that I personally experienced, and it was never made up. I felt very happy.
Ask:
Can you explain what your iconic celebration means?
A: This celebration is an imitation of the Argentine player Dybala, who is also a very handsome player. When I first saw this move, I decided to imitate it. When I did it in Korea, the fans loved it and many of them would take pictures with me. I hope the Beijing fans will also like this move and I will use it to reward the fans after scoring a goal.
