On April 22, Beijing time zone, sources from Football Daily revealed that the Arbitration Committee of the Chinese Football Association is stepping up its efforts to deal with the salary disputes of a number of international players in order for the new professional league season to run smoothly. All of these players have filed for arbitration on the grounds that their clubs are in arrears with their salaries, in an effort to gain their free agency.
It is reported that the international players involved in this dispute are Jiang Guangtai, Gao Junyi, He Chao and Dai Weijun. They are unanimous in applying for arbitration in order to obtain free agency on the grounds that the club owes them wages. However, the CFA has announced that it can suspend the payment of salary arrears and allow players to register normally, which will have a knock-on effect on the free-agency awards of the above international players.
Soccer Daily further pointed out that if the principle of free agency determination triggered by the previous Guangzhou team and Tianjin Jinmen Tiger due to unpaid wages is followed, all the complaining players will be granted free agency; however, if the latest access rules are followed, all the players will not be able to be granted free agency.
Although the CFA leadership has said on the one hand that it will care for and assist its international players by granting them free agency, it has not officially announced the specific rules to be applied, which has left the Arbitration Committee with a dilemma. The internal stance on accelerated arbitration has also shown differences.
