March 9, Beijing - Shui Qingxia, Head Coach of China National Women's Soccer Team, was invited to speak at the School of Management of Fudan University on the topic of "Flexible Management to Meet the Challenges of Uncertainty". Mr. Lu Xiongwen, Dean of the School of Management of Fudan University, Mr. Chen Qiwei, Founder and Head of Asian Business Group, and President of Chingjing Juku, had an in-depth exchange with Coach Shui Qingxia.
Coach Shui Qingxia began his speech by saying, "From my playing days to my coaching career, I have persevered through 40 years of soccer, all because of my love for the game. This time I have the honor to be the head coach of the national team, after the end of the Asian Cup did not expect to receive such an enthusiastic response, today to share with you our little experience in the game."
Talking about the spirit of "Clanging Roses", Coach Shui Qingxia elaborated: "In the 1999 World Cup, we started to be known as the Clanging Roses from the generation that lost to the United States. At that time, Tian Zhen had a song called "Clanging Roses", and the Chinese women's soccer team took this opportunity to show the spirit of "Clanging Roses". The word 'clanging' means positive, while 'rose' shows the spirit of the women in Chinese women's soccer. This enterprising spirit of tenacity and perseverance is the best interpretation of the resounding rose."
Talking about her experience as the head coach of the women's soccer team, Coach Shui Qingxia said, "Even though women's awareness has increased now, there are still some skeptical voices after I became the head coach. Some people questioned the ability of women, and others questioned my ability. Against this background, being the coach of the national team is a challenge for me, which is also related to my character. I am happy to accept the pressure and rise to the challenge."
Talking about the coaching philosophy of the national team, Coach Shui Qingxia said, "First of all, my selection criteria are honor and responsibility. Secondly, technically, I emphasize high-intensity games. In my opinion, Chinese women's soccer still lacks in physical confrontation and high-intensity games. Modern soccer is about fast-paced confrontation and offense and defense. Thirdly, in terms of data, it is important to grasp the players' status in real time. Data does not lie, and it is an important aspect of testing the team's fighting strength. What kind of formation does our team need? Personally, I like the 343 formation, which is very nice on the field and has more changes in tactics, and requires offense and defense. Comparatively speaking, Europeans are more spontaneous, while girls play with more focus on offense and don't want to play defense because it's harder."
Talking about the selection of players, Coach Shui Qingxia said, "We have to select players in a fair and equitable manner, and soccer relies on strength. Choose players on the field who have the will to play for their country. We will conduct a proper assessment, including injuries, illnesses, characteristics and so on. We have also collected a lot of information, and we hope that the Chinese team can learn more from the Japanese team's passing and control, and improve the team's speed of offense and defense in high-intensity matches."
Coach Shui Qingxia added, "In terms of the coaching team, I will focus on psychological counseling because the players' mentality is crucial to the game. If the players don't want to listen, I will care for them as if they were my own daughters. European players are more spontaneous, while Asian players may be influenced by education and are more formal. In training, I will encourage players to make mistakes and give them praise so that they can grow up in happiness."
Talking about the future goals, Coach Shui Qingxia said, "In the short term, we want to shorten the gap with Japan and Australia, and on this basis, we will strive to achieve excellent results in the World Championships."
Finally, Coach Shui Qingxia talked about Wang Frost's injury: "After Wang Frost's injury, we immediately adjusted the lineup to ensure the stability of the team. If Wang Frost can recover in time, I believe our fighting strength will be stronger. During this period, we will also pay attention to the performance of other players to ensure the overall strength of the team."
