Wang Baoshan, born in April 1963 in Baoji, Shaanxi Province, began his soccer career at his hometown gymnasium. 1980, he joined the Shaanxi Provincial Soccer Team as a player, and in 1986, he was selected for the national team, becoming the first international soccer player in the history of Shaanxi soccer. After his retirement, Wang Baoshan started his coaching career with the Xi'an team in 1994, and his coaching career has witnessed almost the entire process of professionalization of the national football team.
Wang Baoshan's coaching career is rich and brilliant, he has coached many professional teams such as Yunnan Hongta, Jiangsu Suntian, Chengdu Sheffield United, Chongqing Lifan, Shenzhen Jiazhaoye, Henan Jianye, Tianjin Teda, etc., and has accumulated rich coaching experience in the top league. He has led many teams to complete the super league and relegation tasks, and has an outstanding record. In addition, he has coached national teams at various levels, making him one of the best domestic coaches, and was appointed as a member of the CFA Technical Committee in 2021.
