Super League Central League Elevation Playoff Results Announced
In the late afternoon yesterday, the second round of the play-offs for the promotion and relegation of the Chinese Super League (CSL) and the Chinese League One (CL1) for the 2021 season started at the same time. The result was surprising, two Chinese Super League teams, Dalian People's Team and Qingdao Team, fell down to the Central League together, while four Central League teams got the ticket to the Chinese Super League. Dalian People's team lost to Chengdu Rongcheng team at home with a score of 0:1, losing with a total score of 1:2, thus being relegated to the Central A. Zhejiang and Qingdao team's home game was tied at 0:0, and Qingdao team lost with a total score of 0:1, and were also relegated.
The match between Dalian People and Chengdu Rongcheng started in Jiangyin Sports Center. In the end, Dalian People lost 0:1. In the 72nd minute, Chengdu Rongcheng's foreign player Romulo scored the winning goal. After the match, Dalian Ren was relegated to the Central League, while Chengdu Rongcheng successfully entered the Chinese Super League.
In the other match, Zhejiang hosted Qingdao. In the first round of the match, Zhejiang took a 1:0 lead. However, both teams failed to score yesterday and ended up in a 0:0 draw, with Zhejiang returning to the Chinese Super League and Qingdao being relegated again.
It is reported that the Chinese Super League will expand to 18 teams next season, so in addition to the top two teams in the Central League, Wuhan Sanzhen and Meizhou Hakka, who were promoted directly, the third and fourth places in the Central League in yesterday's match were also promoted to the next season's Chinese Super League together.
In 2014, Dalian Albin, the predecessor of the Dalian People, was relegated from the Chinese Super League, and it was not until 2018 that the team returned to the Chinese Super League by virtue of its status as the champion of the Central League. However, in the 2018 season, the Dalian People once again fell into relegation difficulties, in the last round of the home 2:0 beat Changchun Yatai team before the thrilling relegation; in the 2019 season, the team ranked 9th, a slight upturn; in the 2020 season, the Dalian People by virtue of two rounds of elimination of the Shijiazhuang Yongchang team successfully relegated. After four years in the Chinese Super League, the Dalian People were thrilled to be relegated twice in the first three seasons, and finally failed to hold on this year.
The Chinese Super League (CSL) will expand to 18 teams next season, leaving only Changchun Yatai as a CSL team in the northeast, a hotbed of Chinese sports.
