At the point of time on January 12, the 2021 soccer season drew to a close with the Super League play-offs. Chengdu Rongcheng and Zhejiang defeated Dalian Ren and Qingdao respectively in a thrilling battle to make it to the Super League ranks.

Prior to this, Wuhan Three Town and Meizhou Hakka had already locked up the title and runner-up spot in the Chinese League One respectively, thus directly qualifying for the Chinese Super League.

Looking ahead to next season, the Chinese Super League will welcome a new member, with the number of teams increasing from the current 16 to 18. The 15th and 16th places in this season's Chinese Super League will battle it out with the 3rd and 4th places in the Chinese First Division for the remaining two Chinese Super League spots. And it was with victories that Chengdu Rongcheng and Zhejiang managed to get promoted.

Together with Wuhan Sanzhen and Meizhou Hakka, who were previously promoted directly, four Chinese League One teams will join the Chinese Super League family in the new season.The 2022 Chinese Super League will welcome 18 strong teams and the level of competition will be further enhanced!
