On November 23rd, in the early morning hours, a sad news came from the Shanghai soccer world. Qiu Fangfang, a senior defender of the Shanghai women's soccer team, had to say goodbye to the game and return to Shanghai for treatment due to health reasons. After exhaustive examination, Qiu was diagnosed with acute leukemia and is currently hospitalized for in-depth treatment. This sudden change caught both the Shanghai Football Association and Shanghai Shengli Football Club off guard. However, Qiu Fangfang herself is relatively stable and confident in her future treatment.

Qiu Fangfang, 30, has been a part of the Shanghai women's soccer team for more than 10 years. In 2017, she made her debut on the women's national team and made her national team debut at the Yongchuan Women's Soccer Invitational Tournament. In 2020, Qiu was blessed with a child and became one of the two mothers on the Shanghai team. At the 2021 National Games, she helped the Shanghai women's soccer team win a valuable silver medal.

Qiu Fangfang is currently undergoing active treatment at Shanghai Ruijin Hospital, and the Shanghai Football Association and the Shanghai Women's Football Team are actively raising funds for her to alleviate her financial burden. In an interview, Qiu Fangfang showed an optimistic and strong attitude, sharing through a video, "This is the first day I was admitted to the hospital for treatment, and it's also the first day of my fight against leukemia. The test results were not satisfactory, so I couldn't take a shower for a while. The platelet count was too low, which could easily cause bleeding in my body and brain. My mouth is also prone to bleeding, so I'm mainly on a liquid and soft diet. However, to my relief, there is no need to avoid food for the time being and I can eat whatever I want."

Qiu Fangfang also expressed her gratitude to the Shanghai women's soccer team through a video: "I thank the club coaches and leaders for arranging a hospital bed and blood for me at the first sign of my illness, so that I don't have much to worry about. I also thank the fans, teammates and family who care about me, and I will continue to work hard and cheer."

Despite being in a hospital room, Qiu Fangfang is still concerned about the performance of the Shanghai women's soccer team in the Women's Super League. In a weibo message sent to her teammates, she wrote: "Tomorrow I can only cheer for you from my cell phone in the hospital, I hope you will win every game for my sake, and even more so for your own sake, to win the coveted championship trophy, we are the best team." It's heartwarming to read this.
